For this year 2025, more than 40 700 seedlings are ready to be used for reforestation in Protected Natural Areas and their Buffer Zones.
Through these actions, the tequila agroindustry, via the Tequila Regulatory Council, reaffirms its commitment to caring for our environment.
Zapopan, Jalisco, June 4, 2025 – As part of World Environment Day, commemorated on June 5, the Tequila agroindustry, through the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), reinforces its commitment to environmental care by contributing resources to the Trust for the Administration of the Forest Development Program of the State of Jalisco (FIPRODEFO) for the production of plants used in reforestation activities.
“In 2025, more than 40 700 plants are ready to be used in reforestation activities. Since 2021, the tequila agroindustry, through the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), has supported this production. The nursery where these plants are grown is located in the municipality of Zapotlán el Grande. The first production was obtained in 2022, and those plants were used to reforest the Protected Natural Area of the Primavera Forest,” stated Eduardo Ibarra Arellano, Sustainability Projects Coordinator at the Tequila Regulatory Council.
The support for this forest production is part of an institutional cooperation framework between the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) and the Government of the State of Jalisco, which is contributing to the sustainability of the Tequila sector.
“Since 2016, the Tequila agroindustry has had its own Sustainability Strategy, which includes seven lines of action: decarbonization of the industry, efficient water use, sustainable agricultural practices, zero deforestation in Tequila production, waste treatment, strengthening of social programs, and regional economic development,” explained Eduardo Ibarra Arellano.
These actions have been complemented by the operation of the nursery, through which the Tequila Regulatory Council reaffirms its commitment to soil conservation and restoration, generating benefits for all by promoting a sustainable environmental setting.
