Internationally, the Tequila Regulatory Council has granted 156 Distintivo T certifications.
Zapopan, Jalisco, January 29, 2026. — In recognition of their commitment to promoting the Culture of Tequila, 29 establishments in Spain received the Distintivo T, awarded by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT).
This distinction recognizes hotels, restaurants, bars, and distribution and consumption centers that meet high quality standards in the handling and service of Tequila, with a focus on the professionalization of their human capital, thereby ensuring a reliable and authentic consumer experience.
The award ceremonies were led by the President of the CRT, Aurelio López Rocha, accompanied by members of the organization’s Board of Directors, as part of a working tour carried out into the International Tourism Fair 2026.
One of the various award events took place at Fundación Casa de México en España, where the President of the CRT highlighted:
“This recognition is also an invitation to continue sharing the Culture of Tequila with the world, showing that when our roots are served with pride, the result transcends borders. To all of you, our most sincere thanks for being part of this journey that continues to honor the spirit of our country through Tequila, a gift from Mexico to the world.”
For several years, the Tequila Regulatory Council and Fundación Casa de México en España have worked together to promote and raise awareness of the Tequila Appellation of Origin (DOT), a joint effort highlighted by Eduardo Pérez, Director of Business Affairs at the Foundation.
“Having the Distintivo T means that you are truly ambassadors of this Appellation, of this magical spirit from the heart of Mexico. We believe that, through you and your establishments, we are sharing a small piece of our country. We want you to know that the Foundation is also part of this effort to promote the richness of Mexican gastronomy and excellence in all Mexican products,” he stated.
With the presentation of 29 Distintivo T certifications to establishments located in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Almería, Seville, La Coruña, Jerez, and Granada, the total number of Distintivo T certifications granted internationally now reaches 156, reaffirming the positioning and recognition of Tequila—Mexico’s first Appellation of Origin—around the world.
