The Tequila Regulatory Council and the Government of Jalisco led a reforestation day during which more than 400 trees were planted.
Through FIPRODEFO, the Tequila Industry has supported the production of more than 200 000 trees for reforestation efforts.
Zapopan, Jalisco, September 12, 2026.- The Tequila Industry, through the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), joined the 2026 State Reforestation Campaign, promoted by the Government of the State of Jalisco through the Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development (SEMADET) and the Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) of La Primavera Forest.
During his remarks, CRT President Aurelio López Rocha recognized the work of Governor of Jalisco Pablo Lemus Navarro and SEMADET Secretary Paola Bauche Petersen for promoting initiatives that bring together society, government authorities, and productive sectors to work collectively for the environment.
“We are here in La Primavera Forest, an invaluable natural heritage that contributes to the environmental balance of our Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, taking part in the 2026 Reforestation Day of the Agave-Tequila Production Chain, where we will plant young trees that represent life, hope, and the future. Because taking part in this effort also means planting awareness, responsibility, and hope,” said the CRT President.
For her part, Environment Secretary Paola Bauche Petersen highlighted that this initiative is part of the 2026 State Reforestation Campaign and recognized the participation of the Tequila Industry, through the CRT, in this and other forest conservation efforts.
“Through the State Strategy for Ecosystem Reforestation and the 2026 Reforestation Day, we set a goal of planting 250 000 trees, which we are very close to achieving. I was told just now that we are currently at between 215 000 and 220 000 trees across the state. Of course, these community reforestation efforts contribute to that strategy and to this reforestation campaign,” said the head of SEMADET.
The event was also attended by Nelly Gabriela Herrera Ornelas, head of the Jalisco Office of Representation of the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), and Héctor Ávila Castro, Operational Environmental Director of the State Environmental Protection Agency (PROEPA).
The commitment of the Agave-Tequila Production Chain to forest conservation has a history. In 2021, the Tequila Industry, through the Trust for the Administration of the Forest Development Program of the State of Jalisco (FIPRODEFO), allocated financial resources to support the annual production of pine and oak seedlings.
To date, this effort has resulted in the production of more than 200 000 trees, which in recent years have been used in reforestation efforts through collaboration and joint work with the Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) of La Primavera Forest.
“This year, as in previous years, with the support of the Tequila Regulatory Council, we have been able to maintain production at the Chamacuera nursery, the largest nursery operated by the State Government. This year, 60 000 trees were produced and allocated to protected natural areas, the Tapalpa Mountain Range, and other sites of importance,” said FIPRODEFO Director Jesús Cortés Aguilar.
“Today, with this group, we are concluding the voluntary reforestation activities in La Primavera Forest for the 2026 season. We set a goal of planting 25 000 trees, most of which were produced at the Chamacuera nursery,” emphasized Gabriel Vázquez Sánchez, Director of the OPD of La Primavera Forest.
To help the OPD of La Primavera Forest achieve this goal, more than 400 young trees were planted during the Reforestation Day of the Agave-Tequila Production Chain. The activity brought together employees from different Tequila companies, members of the CRT Board of Directors, CRT staff and their families, as well as government authorities.
The Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) reaffirms its commitment to the care and conservation of the environment, working every day to ensure that Tequila is not only the world’s most regulated spirit, but also its most sustainable.
