CNIT and CRT Celebrate National Tequila Day with a Guinness World Records Achievement

  • Tequila Lab now holds the Most different Tequila bottles on display —3,199 in total.
  • During the event, a call was made to all sectors of the tequila agroindustry to continue working together in unity.

Zapopan, Jalisco, July 24, 2025 – As part of the National Tequila Day celebration, the Government of the State of Jalisco, the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT), and the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) came together for a special edition of the event that unites agave growers, tequila producers, bottlers, marketers, and government authorities. The celebration pays tribute to our national spirit, recognized for its cultural, economic, and symbolic importance to Mexico.

As part of this celebration, a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS was awarded for the Most different Tequila bottles on display, with a total of 3,199. The event was presided over by the Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro.

“Talking about Tequila is talking about Mexico—and that’s exactly what you have done. We must not lose sight of this. We need to remember what Tequila was forty, thirty, even ten years ago, and what it is today. Here, I also want to acknowledge the work of the Tequila Regulatory Council. This was an extraordinary initiative—first, to secure the Denomination of Origin, and then to regulate and preserve the quality of Tequila for its production, consumption, and export,” stated Governor Pablo Lemus.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Zapopan, Juan José Frangie, expressed his gratitude to all the sectors that make up the tequila agroindustry for elevating the name of Jalisco and Tequila.

“Tequila is tradition, it is art, it is economy, it is tourism, and it is living culture—but above all, Tequila is identity. Tequila is our greatest ambassador, recognized around the world. It is part of our Cultural Heritage. For example, in 2006 the Agave Landscape was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Furthermore, Tequila was the first Mexican product to receive international recognition as a Denomination of Origin,” the Mayor emphasized.

With the placement of the commemorative bottle at Tequila Lab, the number of different Tequila bottles on display reached 3,199, setting a Guinness World Record. This record can be admired at the Tequila Lab Cultural and Business Center. This exhibition reaffirms the iconic and global character of this beverage, which has become a symbol of Mexico. In this space, one can reflect on the passage of time, the years of history, the hard work, passion, and authenticity; and it invites us to look toward the future, said Rodolfo González, Treasurer of the CRT Board of Directors, during his remarks representing the President of the Tequila Regulatory Council, Aurelio López Rocha.

“Behind each of these bottles we see here, there are more than 100,000 families who dedicate their lives every day in the fields and in the industry, to the land, the agave, and producing our national drink par excellence. What we see today is more than just a bottle exhibition; it is a declaration and expression of love for our Mexican identity. Around us, Tequila Lab was born as a vision of the Tequila Regulatory Council and its industry, and it has been embraced with great enthusiasm and strong support by the Government of the State of Jalisco,” emphasized Rodolfo González.

The event brought together authorities from all three levels of government, leaders from the Agave-Tequila sector, and media representatives in a day filled with identity and pride. During his speech, the president of the CNIT, Roberto Ciprés, called on all sectors of the tequila agroindustry to continue working together in unity.

“On July 24th, we celebrate National Tequila Day, just like the rest of the world, with a strong call to maintain unity as a fundamental value to face the challenges currently affecting the tequila agroindustry amid a complex economic and political landscape. Today more than ever, we need to renew the unity and commitment among field producers, industrialists, civil society, and all three levels of government, aligning efforts and wills to firmly preserve this national heritage: Tequila,” stated Roberto Ciprés.

This year, the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, the Tequila Regulatory Council, and the Government of Jalisco joined forces to celebrate National Tequila Day, coinciding with the unification of this date with International Tequila Day—a legislative effort currently underway by federal lawmakers to recognize and celebrate it every July 24th both nationally and worldwide.

Tequila is more than just a drink; it is an economic engine, a symbol of identity, culture, and national pride. With this world record, the tequila agroindustry reaffirms its commitment to continue raising the name of Mexico and Tequila to the highest level.
